Dr Tajudeen Adeniran Badmus is a native of Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria. He attended St Cyprian Catholic School Oluyoro Oke-Offa, and Methodist N/5 Agodi Ibadan between 1968 and 1973 for his primary school education. He proceeded to Fatima College Ikire, Osun State for his secondary school (September 1973-June 1978). Thereafter, he attended Ilesa Grammar school for higher School certificate (Oct. 1978-May 1980). In October 1980 he was admitted to the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan and graduated with MB.BS in June 1985. He did his post-graduate training in surgery at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile-Ife (May 1990-Oct. 1996). He received further training at the Kasr El-Aini Cairo University Teaching Hospital, Cairo, Egypt (May-Oct 2000) and the Manchester University Teaching Hospital, Manchester, UK (July-October 2007).

Dr Badmus worked briefly as medical officer in charge, Comprehensive Health Center, Rumuji, Kelga (old Rivers State) during National Youth Service (Sept 1986-Sept 1987), Comprehensive Health Center, Ifewara (October 1987-January 1990), and as an acting consultant Surgeon at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Banjul, The Gambia (March.-August 1996).

Dr TA Badmus became a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in October 1996 and was appointed a Hospital Consultant Surgeon on 15th January 1997 at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile-Ife. He joined the Department of Surgery, Obafemi Awolowo University as a Lecturer 1 in Urology in April 1998 and became an Honorary Consultant Urologist to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife. On the basis of his hard work, good research output, active teaching and excellent service, he was promoted to Associate Professor of Urology in 2007.

Dr Badmus has been taking all levels of clinical students in Surgery and the surgical specialties in didactic lectures, seminars, bedside teaching, clinic and theatre sessions and tutorial classes. He teaches CLI 408 (Trauma), CLI 410 (Urological System), CLI 420B (Principles of Medical Practice - Surgery) and CLI 603 (Surgery). He has also been teaching Postgraduate Trainee Surgeons and has been supervising dissertations for Fellowship examinations in Surgery. Dr Badmus has supervised the training of eight Urologist and many other surgeons. He was the deputy Hall master, clinical Hostel 1999-2004, Hall Fellow (2004-2011) and hall Master (2011 till date). He was appointed a member of the council of the International College of Surgeons (Nigeria section) in March 2009 and a member of the Faculty of surgery, West African college of Surgeons in March 2013.

The main thrust of his contribution had been in the area of Renal Transplantation, urological oncology and other urological disorders. Under his leadership, Dr Badmus and Colleagues locally pioneered the feat of Renal Transplantation Surgery successfully and successively, the first in a Nigerian Teaching Hospital in spite of limited resources.
