About the Department
The Department of Dermatology and Venereology is the only one of its kind in West Africa sub- region in terms of autonomy: being separated from the department of Internal Medicine. It has excellently trained and experienced staff in the field, and has trained many undergraduate and postgraduate students from all over the country, and beyond.
Courses Taught
Courses taught include topics on the physiology, embryology, pathology and pharmacology of the skin and acquisition of clinical skills necessary to give skin health care. The management of sexually transmitted diseases is also taught.
Academic Activities
The Department has a clinical laboratory where procedures and investigations are carried out. There is continuous ongoing research as well as annual training workshops in the department.
